2011 Insect/Disease & Animal Damage Tour

The Insect, Disease and Animal Damage Tour will be held in the Fort Bragg area this year.

The Field tour will focus on coastal pine forest pest problems in Mendocino County Topics to bve covered include sudden oak death management, insect, disease rengeration and management of coastal pines and pathogen management in wildland, rural and urbanizing environements.

Western pine beetle management Plantation/ IPM management Insecticide injection mortality protection/ giant sequoia establishment and management/ giant sequoia sensitivity to herbicides/ fuel hazard reductions and wildfire fuel breaks/ prescribed fire and herbicide use for brush reduction/ Velpar and Velossa product results on SP, IC and GS/ high elevation multi-species plantation management/ gopher baiting/ climate change test plots/ IPM on right of Way management/ Insect canopy research in giant sequoia/ cattle grazing as weed abatement/ biomass for pest and disease control/ aerial conifer release/ forest to oak woodland site conversion/ Annosus root disease & mistletoe treatments/ Landslide regeneration treatments/ aspen regeneration.

$75.00 Student Rate per person for July 13 & 14 Field Tour

Includes information packet, transportation, lunch and beverages for both days and a BBQ dinner the evening of July 13th.

Golf Tournament (optional)
 $50.00 per person, scheduled for July 12th at Forest Meadows. Please refer to flyer for the 11th Annual Weed Tour Golf Tournament.

REGISTRATION: Murphys Suites, Highway 4, Murphys, CA. 7:00 A.M. on July 13th

1st Day        Cal Forest Nursery will provide coffee, muffins, bagels and fruit at 7:00 a.m. at registration. No vehicles are allowed on tour, except for pre-approved vehicles. Transportation will be provided. Buses leave at 8:00 AM sharp.

 2nd Day       Dupont will provide coffee, muffins, bagels and fruit at 7:00 a.m. at registration. No vehicles are allowed on tour, except for pre-approved vehicles. Transportation will be provided. Buses leave at 8:00 AM sharp.
